The Rumors are True...I am Dating Simona Fried

Tonight Simona was my date for a Sweet sixteen. I felt pretty cool with this piece of arm candy! It got quite heated on the dance floor...our chemistry is undeniable.
My mom told her my frog died...it's become my mom's taking pictures catch phrase, no longer is "say cheese" used in this house
{Wish blouse, FRINGE by Jacob Shanbrom skirt}
I was very flattered when Simona asked to wear one of my pieces to the party...I hope this wasn't just a clever ploy to not have to buy an outfit. I think I'm going to refrain from asking. My mom and I spend our time talking about how "rocking" {as my mom puts it} her body is.
{Velvet blazer from Target, Buffalo by David Bitton shirt, bowtie from Century 21}
Notice I changed my glasses? I think I prefer my other pair, but these are cool too. The on downside is that the other ones cover like my whole face, and because these are normal sized, I can't really see when I look down or to the side. My mom gets full credit for this jacket. We were at Target, and I thought it looked nice, but I had just ordered two black blazers and I wasn't going to get it, when my mom literally forced me to. She called my grandma and five minutes later I had a birthday present, thanks Utch! This jacket fits so amazingly, and I still can't believe its from Target. The cut and construction are literally incredible. My only beef with the jacket is that it gets covered with lots of crap because its velvet, but I guess that's just velvet, I shouldn't take out my anger on the jacket, it's no fault of it. Its just the fabric. I bought this bowtie at the same time I bought the purple one from my French Connection bag/Taylor Swift post.
{Jeffery Campbell Lita boots, Vintage Valentino crocodile bag}
I'm really into the whole "fashionable club foot" look. These are so much fun, but a little dangerous to drive in, I got lots of practice tonight. When I got the the party, another girl was wearing them! Thankfully they were taupe suede, so it wasn't a complete "Bitch Stole my Look" scenario, no drinks were thrown, I promise. The photographer chased me around all night, where she would then proceed to lay on the floor and take pictures of my shoes. Flattering at first, but somewhat awkward after six of seven minutes. This bag was yet another very generous gift from Roni Berg, I love it! I am obsessed with crocodile, and I feel so lucky to have this bag! It is so beautifully made, and I love the closure.
We bought these BCBG pumps today. I really love the double platform looks, and they do wonderful things for legs.
 I need to be productive, maybe a Bagel and Shmear before I head off to my meeting. Happy Sunday!

I Be Old Scottish Man

I love this French Connection sweater. I've always wanted a Fair-isle sweater, and this one fit the bill. I've had it for a while, but Ive never worn. It's super warm wool, so I had to be sure that I wouldn't overheat and die, also, because of the cut, my I can't really life my arms too high when I wear this sweater.
I wore my Isabel Toldeo for Payless booties. They really are the most comfortable heels I own. I just with the heel was an inch higher...
My grandma gave my mom this Fendi bag almost thirty years ago. She never wears it now, and I've always loved it, so last week, she passed the baton. This rectangle tote shape is one of my favorite styles for handbags. I wasted no time and ran to the shoe repair, my mom REALLY loved this bag and it needed some TLC. For six dollars, I got all the seams re-sewn and I looks much better. The bottom corners still show some wear, but I guess it gives the bag some character. Have a happy Saturday, there's a scone calling my name!

Be You

Today was my school's GSA yearbook picture. I decided, as the president, that I should look extra amazing. Like the pose in front of the bathroom?
{Forever 21 shirt, vintage silk bowtie, Theory vest, GSA "Be you" tee shirt}
I designed these shirts, and I love them! They're so cute, and I happen to think the color palate is pretty amazing. I found this bowtie in my closet, I think the bowtie fairy must have slipped it in there when I wasn't looking. I needed a little definition at the waist, so the vest was the perfect way to slim down an otherwise bulky look. I'm so upset! I spilled Gesso on my jeans, I'm currently trying to scrub them clean, you can kind of see the whitish spot on my left leg.
{Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, customized Cole Haan brogues}
I bought this bag in freshman year, I thought it was a classic investment piece. What a joke! It's cute, but not really my style anymore. I think the last time I wore it I was fourteen and had braces.
I wore the "Monster" shoes again. I got so many compliments, thank you again Maddie! I think one of my favorite monsters is the sunny side up egg/mushroom one in the left shoe. It is inspired my Maddie's mom Helen's signature dish; Naan or ravioli, with a fried egg, goat cheese, some kind of vegetable, and pine nuts. It sounds weird, but its so good. TGIF!

Under the bed...

Just a quick outfit post today...I wore this to go to school! That is what the kids do today. I do however, try to dress up for school as often as I can. The whole, I'm -only-going-to-school - excuse doesn't work for me, frankly, that's crap. You never know what your day will entail, who you meet, and what you will do. Anything can happen, and there is no excuse to leave your house at any level than your best at least 90% of the time. Also, as high school students, our job is school. Would you show up to work in slippers, sweatpants, and a sweatshirt?  That was rhetorical, I realize many people come to school like that, but nonetheless, it is horrendous and should be illegal.

{Streets Legal leather jacket, Sovereign Code shirt, Vintage Dior tie}
Again with the leather jacket. Its not too warm, but I really do love it. Yet another Sovereign Code shirt, I think this one is maybe the most formal, but my favorite one is soon to come. It's such a cool color combination, its like mocha, black, purple, white, and tan, so basically, it looks good with everything. I was so excited to wear this tie for the first time, I got a lot of compliments, and the paisley looked really nice with the checkers. I love half-awake pattern mixing. It usually turns out well, and frankly I don't know if I would have put this combination together if both of my eyes were open.
{Joseph Abboud boots, Vintage Paloma Picasso bag}
I was so excited to find these boots under my bed! I bought them last spring, and they have so many good memories associated with them. I wore them the day that live models wore my clothing in the windows of Tracy B, my Adopt-a-Survivor presentation, and I wore them with a very similar outfit the Fashion Night out. They're super comfy, but I try not to wear them too much because I would be so sad if the got dirty...or dirtier than they are. I love this bag more every time I wear it, and today was the first day I stuffed it full and it held a lot.

Human Growth Hormones, The Breakfast Cereal of Choice

I wore this outfit to go to my cousin Jessica's bridal shower {congrats!}, and to make a PSA for my anatomy and psychology class with my friend Emma Lena. I really wanted to wear my Hermes bag, it was just one of those days. I built my outfit around the gold hardware, even though I usually gravitate towards outfits that have more a silver feeling.
{Ralph Lauren blazer, French Connection shirt, Missoni sweater, Levi's jeans}
I've had this blazer for six years. I love it so much, but the sleeves have become too short, but on the bright side, it looks amazing with the cuffs unbuttoned and rolled up to reveal the plaid lining. I've been really enjoying this shirt, I think its become one of my favorite tee shirts that I still wear. I enjoyed wearing this Missoni cardigan today, but It's sad that I've have it for maybe five years, and I think I've worn it six or seven times. I got it before I really developed my style, so the brownish color palate was nice looking, but looking back, I regret buying it. It wasn't at all cheap, and I feel bad that it doesn't see the light of day too often. I need to start wearing it more often, but I do regret picking this color. In conclusion, not one of my best fashionable investments.
{Hermes Kelly bag, Customized Cole Haan shoes by Maddie Jaye Marino}
Every time I carry this bag, I fall deeper in love. It is just so perfect, end of story. I bought the Cole Haan brogues last spring, I loved them so much, especially with my mostly black color palate. I wore them a ton this summer in the city when I was interning, and I really enjoyed them. When they starting getting dirty with subway gunk and spilled coffee, I rushed into my dads collection of shoe polish to get the smelly white goop. Sadly, the polish was a stark white, and the shoes are a very slight off-white with a blue undertone. The result was rather splotchy. I was about to throw them away, but I thought they would have to be good for some project. Maddie came up with the idea of a monster themed shoe mural, and they were such a great present! Thank you Maddie! Please check out her Flickr to see better pictures of the shoes!!!

{Urban Outfitters blazer and belt, H&M skirt, Goody hair bow}
Doesn't Emma look cute? I dressed her for out video shoot, I love the hair bow on her!
How cute are Emma's Gucci heels?
I practically sustain myself on Dunkin Donuts massive iced coffees. They're so big and caffeinated, great for hot days, long nights, and at 2 bucks a pop, great for when you don't want to spend six dollars at "coffee shops".  I'm off to pick up my Blackberry, the one in the picture is my old one that I had to activate on Friday because my other one broke. Happy Monday-off-from-school!

Lunching, It's a Verb

Today I went to lunch with my friend Maddie. We were celebrating not having school on a Friday, and a belated Birthday. We went to Scoozi, it was so good, and it was funny that she chose that restaurant, because my mom did the interior, very well done mom. I am very proud to say that my famous movie star mother, Patricia Renee, is also a very successful interior designer, not decorator. I've made that mistake before.
This was strange, but very good. It was some sort of ginger, tomato, and golden raisin compote on top of a goat cheese crustini. Oddly comforting.
Three cheese and truffle pizza
My mother has taught me well, I like to order white pizza, or pasta with a white sauce, and then red sauce of the side. I like control when it comes to food.
{Ben Sherman blazer, H&M Tee shirt}
Haha! In a bookstore! I do not read for fun, my feet were killing me, and I chose to go to the nearest Starbucks in Yale, which is located in a bookstore. There was no way I could walk the four blocks to get to the other one. I was dying for an iced Chai with skim milk. I was raised on skim milk, I literally cannot drink a whole Chai with whole milk, I would seriously vom, maybe not, but I still don't understand how some people do it. I don't even like 2%. This is one of my all-time favorite jackets. I bought it during Freshman year, I haven't worn it in a while, and I was very pleased to see that it was a bit roomy today when I put it on. Again with my fashion investment mantra, I spent a couple hundred on this over two years ago, and I will wear it forever. The fact of the matter is that you get what you pay for, that is especially true when it comes to tailored pieces, like jackets, vests, and coats. I was originally going to wear this with a chartreuse knit under, but opted for the simple black long sleeve tee shirt. Thank god I didn't wear the sweater, it was warm today! I have a ton of black plain tee shirts, and this is by far my favorite. Perfectly stretchy, a little drapey, and it has the best sleeve length I've even seen. Remember when I said I don't usually wear tee shirts anymore? Blazers are the lupole...
{Pour La Victoire boots, Coach bag}
Maddie, the NYC one, gave me this bag as part of her vegetarian no-leather giveaway. I really love this bag, the blue suede is really stunning, and I noticed today that the leather handles and trim are actually navy blue. I love this! It's so unexpected, I had thought they were black. Again with these boots, they're my moms favorite of my collection of black ankle boots. I was showered with compliments today, always a plus, and they almost made me forget about the excruciating foot pain. The angle of the heel is very beautiful, but less than comfortable. This is also one of my only pairs of heels that doesn't really have a platform. This makes the five inch heel somewhat horrendous for walking. I do love the treck on the bottom though. I had to change into my Frye engineer boots after three hours of these when I went to the shoe repair guy to talk vintage Fendi.
I picked this hat up today at Urban Outfitters. I can't tell you the last time I actually bought something there. I think it's so cute! The feathers are pretty fierce on the side with the grosgrain ribbon, I got it for $3.75, pretty amazing, no? I'm off for a meeting, have a beautiful day!

Reed Krakoff Fall 2011

I have been in love with Reed Krakoff ever since the line debuted a few season. I was very surprised to hear that the designer also worked for Coach. The line is so classically stunning, but they also throw in an unexpected element. the shoes are so beyond
Beautiful, I love the camel color and the toggle closure. I am also a huge fan of all the variations of Reed Krakoff's crocodile bags.
I think this outfit perfectly personifies effortless "lazy" sexiness. I love the unexpected blue bag.
The juxtaposition of the leather and chiffon is really stunning, it has a beautiful masculine/feminine feel.
Again with the texture mixing, I WANT THIS SWEATER
I'm really into statement coats. The Jackson Pollock feel of this coat is very appealing.
The silk skirt literally looks delicious. The fluidity is breathtaking.
These are from last season. I am obsessed with Reed Krakoff's shoes are amazing. These are made of Python and Boar hair. The have such a fun, Tiki feeling. They're so beyond cool.

I love fur, and I love high heels. A combination if the two was a match made in heaven. I especially like that these are sandals, because it would be typical to make a fur shoe closed toe and more winter-like. So beyond amazing.

I Hate Hipsters with Mustaches on Bicycles

After my Taylor Swift post, I saw the Sarah Jessica Parker, aka, my soul mate, has my scarf! Crazy huh?
{Vintage Chambray shirt, Vintage bowtie, Social Collision wax coated jeans, Love Quotes scarf}
I really, really love this shirt. It fits perfectly, and I love the worn, well loved look of the faded denim, especially when mixed with something more structured, like these jeans. They're so cool, they look just like leather. Not too comfortable, but I thing they are very esthetically pleasing. My friend Claire bought me this scarf, and one for herself. I love the color, and they knotted tassles are really pretty. Im wearing the bowtie again, I decided to throw it on right as I was leaving the house. Because it just clips on, its so easy to just throw it on. I like a quick accessory that can really make an outfit pop, it has a huge impact.
{Photo Credit-singer 22}
This picture ran in People Stylewatch. It looks great on her, but I can't tell a lie, I might just look better. Scratch that, I do look better, nothing personal SJP, no one can rock a party dress and Manolos like you! Did I ever mention how much I love SJP/ my compulsive obsession with Sex and the City? Well its pretty intense, I've seen every episode like 12 times.
Worn with my trusty Regina bag and Dolce Vita for Target studded brogues. I love this bag, and I have really put it through Hell. I wore it almost everyday this summer when I was interning in the New York. It has held up beautifully, and I know I will wear it for years to come. This is exactly what I mean when I talk about investment buying. I spent a nice chunk of change on this bag, but it goes with everything in my closet, I wear it all the time, and I enjoy it every time I carry it.

Aversion Shock Therapy

I've had a fear of thrift stores for a while now. I can't count the number of time I've seen someone in an amazing outfit, and it's been from a thrift store. Just the thought of what could have happened in that garment schkieves me to no end. What is someone had a sweating problem, or died in the clothing and consequentially lost control of their bowels? I have the neurotic Jewish gene, and it definitely applies to thrifted clothing. Interestingly enough, I love Vintage, and I am currently trying to bridge the gap between the two. I think the difference is in the shopping experience. Vintage stores are clean, and merchandised. Thrift stores have that thrift store smell, and the piles make me queasy and anxious. I decided that it was time to cut the shit and get over it, but I needed to do it slowly. I went to the Goodwill last week, and I thought that ties would be a safe way to start my dive into thrift. Then bags, and maybe jackets. I don't know if shirts will every happen, that really goes for any clothing that is in direct contact with the body...and sweaters, because they soak up fluids and odors. I just can't deal with that.
I picked up two ties when I was there on Friday.
The Selection of high end designer ties was baffling. There were tons of brown ties, Oscar De La Renta, Dior, and YSL. I was tempted to buy them, but  don't wear brown, so it seemed pretty stupid. There was the most stunning Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tie, in a dusty rose and gray color palate, but it had a huge stain. I am in love with this Dior tie. I don't have anything paisley, and the color is really beautiful in person.
I love this bowtie. I had so much fun wearing it on my birthday night, and although I originally thought the clip on action was dumb, its pretty cool to be able to clip it onto anything, literally. My flight was just booked for Paris fashion week, I'm so excited! I'm off to the dentist, wish me luck!

Opening Ceremony

I've never really been interested in Opening Ceremony, but on closer inspection...I'm hooked. I told myself that I had to look into it after falling in love with the Chloe Sevigny heels.
I had to post them again, they're so amazing. I love the lace up version, but this Chelsea boot style is also super sharp. I love the monstrous platform and sturdy heel. That's the nice thing about this kind of shoe shape, the level of height that is attainable is so much more than a stiletto could ever give.
How sick are these sweaters? They're Rodarte, but the nickname for men's Rodarte is Brodarte. I would love to own one of these, they really are the shit. No arguments, I would already have one if they didn't run at close to 3,000. I've seen a bunch people try to replicate this style with an old sweater and a razor blade...maybe I'll have to give it a try. The fact of the matter is that unless you're a master knitter, this stunning open knit is somewhat out of reach.
{Photo Credit-Opening Ceremony)
I can't get over this bag. Alexander Wang's bags are always cool, but this one is so beyond. I really love the somewhat disheveled look of all of the strapping, Its amazing. I die!
